I like him and I sometimes actually prefer Sky's coverage with Jim in the driver's seat of the big fights instead of HBO. Showtime has the best crew though.

Love jim watts work. Don't know why people think he's bias. The ricky burns vs Beltran and ricky burns vs Crawford fight I thought he called it as it was. Watt was discusted with the judges in the Beltran fight and was quite damning of ricky against Crawford.

The problem on here was Watt wasn't like -
"OMG Burns average, he suxz and he no good he a bum ahahaha RICKY BUMS"
If he did that perhaps the perception of Watt on here would be different?

Is it the point that when your fighters is losing, He really is last person you want to be listening to as a commentater?

I developed more respect for him after listening to him reminisce about his time with Terry Lawless. Which of course has nothing to do with his commentating but it's well worth a watch if you haven't seen it. John H. Stracey, as always, is a joy to listen to and a consummate gentleman.

Oh he can wear the patience thin at times, as all commentators do. I tend to give him a pass when that happens because I think he's a genuinely decent human being and I remind myself that I like him commentating on developing fighters.

It was different when Hatton was fighting though. I couldn't even count the amount of times that I found myself shouting "Shut the **** up, Jim!" at the t.v screen, or snarling it under my breath. I was convinced that he hated Hatton (which he didn't of course). "There he goes again, taking thunderous punchees. Silly, silly boy." Get . . to . . ****!!

Maybe he's gone a bit stale on you, they all have that repertoire that they fall back on. When I first came on here and could get HBO broadcasts it was like a revelation for me. That's wore thin. Not quite Andy Townsend ITV football levels, but still.

IronDanHamza made a good point. Jim does seem somewhat out of touch at times, which saddened me the first time I noticed it. You can't really justify that.

Yeah totally agree, I hate it when commentators slag off fighters. Everyone has their limits and weaknesses.

Roy Jones hit the nail on the head when he was talking about how MMA commentators only talk up aspects of each fighter instead of calling them shot, lazy or overrated etc like they often do in boxing.

i agree. he does get repetitive at times, gets all hung up on one thing and his opinions are clearly effected by his own style of fighting as well. but he isnt biased on purpose, he really calls it how he sees it which at times differs from the rest of us but at least he isnt purposely sucking the house fighters balls like jim lampley. or just being an whining, disrespectful douche like merchant. all in all he is a decent commentator imo.

he was good last night but overall, no, absolutely not. he was heavily biased towards groves in the froch fight and scored bute-pascal somehow for bute.
