@Misterhardtop. Good post as usual mate..

......but going through this week's Boxing News and the Froch v Groves feature, Carl pretty clearly stated that whilst he had not dismissed Groves out-of-hand neither had he trained with the kind of remorseless physical and mental intensity he is renowned for.

He did not do his usual, full-on roadwork and did not bury himself away in camp for the same length of time. Carl was clearly not slobbing about but the 110% approach he usually employs was not applied.

He'll bring that extra intensity this time round and he'll need to....

Interesting post, but watching it back seeing Froch in the 9th, running into 2 clean shots and straight on after unleashing thunderous punches upon Groves told me a different story.

See I know froch didn't prep enough but surely this would be the same for groves.

He changed trainers and had that legal battle in the build up

          Thank you bodyshot.

Well maybe Froch is feeding the media story? Speaking to him in the immediate aftermath of the first fight and in the weeks leading up to it, he kept saying he was at his best and would never take a young, hungry fighter lightly. I guess everyone is entitled to change their outlooks and this may be one of those moments, maybe Froch has looked back and realised he didn't work as hard as he did previously.

I hope both men are at their best come May because it would make for an even better show.

I reckon Groves wins on points next time around. I think he wanted to prove he had the same heart and courage as his opponent in the first fight. No one doubts that now. He doesn't need to stand and trade with Froch this time. If he boxes sensibly his superior speed will be enough to give him the win.

Seeming as this is a prediction thread I should probably make a prediction.

Groves is going to look to end the return before he can be taken into deep water. He knows that Froch is no artisan and he has the better of him whilst they're both fresh. He was able to counter with the jab and land his right hand straight from the off in the first fight. It was only at short range that Carl got his own way when Groves would cover up and attempt to smother the attack. But as the fight progressed, Groves learned to time him in close for the counter right hook.

Now Froch's tottering performance and fear of being hit may have been due to fighting through concussion, after all he did regain his ability to walk through shots and impose his will in the 8th. But if it was due to lack of craft that upturned when his opponent gassed and started to throw with less power then Grove's ability to counter in close in the early rounds as Froch attempts to assert himself may well decide the rematch.

The Sky commentator in the first fight said that "only a fool would right off Carl Froch" so I guess I'm setting myself up. I'm going for Groves by stoppage within six, via a counter right hook.

                I agree.

Do you think Groves would be wise to fight on the back-foot this time around?

Yep, I think if he fights on the back-foot he wins, provided he has the discipline to stick at it for 12 rounds.

Froch never gave him a break... What are you even talking about?!
Its Froch we're talking about, he is 37yo he has fought this way his entire career when he's faced someone good enough to utilize head movement and good footwork he struggles.
He struggled against Jermaine Taylor before the KO just like he also struggled with Kessler in their first fight and even in the rematch then Dirrell, Ward and Groves.

If anything Dirrell should be the one having a rematch with this thief, Dirrell schooled him and that hasn't happened to Groves yet in his career.
