  • Froch vs Groves II: Be The Booker

For Froch vs Groves to sell out 60,000 we'll obviously need a great undercard...

What would yours be... trying to be realistic...

(and yes I know it might not even happen lol)

Murray vs Barker and Macklin vs Lee,winners face each other,in a bigger fight than Groves v Froch.not interested in all these low key fights with lesser champions, but I'd like Frampton v Quigg too, already feels like asking too much, get Ward ringside so he can be drawn on facing Groves after he knocks Froch out.the only way Groves can win is by KO,Hearn will make sure Groves is ****ed on the cards if it goes the distance.

The best thing we can hope for is another list of miss matchs like the undercard for the first fight and have them ridiculously labelled as "50-50" fights.

Eddie Hearn actually had the nerve to label most of those fights as "genuine 50-50".

They aren't going to waste the likes of Murray-Barker, Lee-Macklin or Quigg-Frampton on an undercard when it could be it's own show and generate a lot.

What a great idea for a thread.

Here's my decent undercard. I didn't think too deeply about promotional ties etc. Just bouts I'd like to see....

        Selby vs Arce

        Buglioni vs Fielding

        Crolla vs Matthews

        Cleverly vs Conquest

        Steve Smith vs Arash Usmanee

        Eubank Jr vs Etches

        Yafai vs Butler

If the fight was made in May and Matchroom want to mega stack the card some of this could be in there:

Barker vs Sturm (rematch clause if he loses) or Geale (contractual rematch).

Quigg vs Martinez IBF WBA Unification

            Crolla vs Mitchell?

            Joshua vs Sexton/McDermott/Lewison etc

I can't remember the quantity of Sky dates that Matchroom have to honour next year but its something ridiculous like a boxing show every 2-3 weeks (which is brilliant for us Sky subscribers), but that's going to make it tricky to keep the cards stacked.

I like many were disappointed with the Froch Groves I undercard by the end. Eddie Hearn stacked that undercard because there were people out there who didn't deem Froch vs Groves PPV worthy (I think we have it easy at only £15 a go compared to america's $60+). Maybe since the rematch is PPV worthy, he won't be as concerned with the undercard.

I don't think the undercard needs to be great for this fight to sell 60, 000, but I'll bite and play the game:

First off, I think this fight needs to be held in April or May, when the weather gets slightly better and a little warmer, by that time Barker should be done with Sturm and looking for something new so I propose:

Barker v Geale II IBF Championship, co-main event

              Quigg v Salinas II

Mitchell v Crolla, this fight proves if Kev has naything left and is a big step for Crolla

Campbell v Harrison/Rees, as long as Campbell fights 2-3 times leading up to April, I think a shot Rees could be his coming out party or a limited Harrison

              Joshua v No Name Heavy

Now that's a heck of a card that is also highly realistic

If Barker loses by KO to Sturm,he would be out of the top 5 in the IBF rankings preventing an immediate rematch with Felix,I would like to think that Geale would have something stipulated in the contract that he would be entitled to face Sturm as a prerequisite in the contract being made beforehand between Sturm and Barker,a fight I really do think Hearn and Barker are underestimating Felix in,he is far from shot and to believe Sturm has paid Barker a million to travel to Germany,I really believe Sturm doesn't believe for one minute he is on the decline, and after having watched him take Zbik apart in the manner he did,I genuinely believe Barker is in a world of hurt.

I'd hoped Murray would get a crack at that title before Barker was deposed as he clearly deserved to be the WBC champ ! after watching Murray and the other Brit/Eire middle weight boxers on the gloves are off on the English channel Sky,Barker himself said he would like to face Murray and will offer him the fight after his mandatory to Sturm, assuming he keeps his belt ! will he ? I suppose we will find next weekend.

You guys are right Murray v Barker with a belt on the line is probably a fight big enough to generate 25k seat sales on its own,Macklin v Lee I don't think deserves to be a stand alone event, and would be worthy chief support for say Groves Froch 2 or Murray against Barker.

@Taansend.....Buglioni v Fielding = nice call and top fight
Reliant on grumpy, old Uncle Frank putting his man on a Hearn bill but we got Ryder v Saunders recently so perhaps there's hope!
