I was checking out the sergio martinez vs macklin fight, pretty good fight, but in the end i saw larry merchant, if anyone can post a gif or pic of him in that interview at the end id appreciate it. He looked terrible and i think he needs to retire, he had alot of good years but unfortunatly his time is up. He needs to pass the torch i dont think its fair to boxing fans to have to see that hair and face, he should be at home enjoying his last days....

Larry Merchant sucks and is so biased that he brings down the entire crew of HBO. For a guy that has never boxed he has alot of opinions on who a fighter should fight. At the end of the day a fighter must entertain but he also has a livelihood and a family. So my question to merchant is who is going to take care of the next that ends up like ALI and hasn't made alot of money. None of the fans give Gatti hall of fame credit Eventhough he put on great fights. In any contest the objective is to win and he hates if a fighter comes in with a gameplay and follows it but isn't crowd pleasing. If you put on a crowd pleasing style but don't win you want make Mayweather type money. So the best thing to do is to win at all cost.

Merchant could careless if a fighter has intelligence and formulates a good plan to his career. He only wants to see a slugfest. It's called the sweet science for a reason. Please make kellermen, Jones, Stewart, Mayweather and someone with personality like Paulie or a Mayorga personality.

I like Larry...lots of boxing knowledge, calls it like it is, just too cutting for some who prefer their favorite boxers to be praised even when they don't deserve it

This is how I see it. I used to like him a lot, but recently I feel he's become more biased and less interesting.

He was always opinionated and that was fine, but nowadays there are times when he seems to have an agenda and wants to drone on about it all night.
