Max schmeling always comes to mind as a famous one. And more recently yuri foreman and dmitry salita
I am guessing they are both from the former USSR and moved to Israel and now fight out of Israel. I bet we will see more of those in the coming years.
Thank you!
I have seen many Israeli athletes started being competitive in many other sports. Are they any quality fighters from Israel?
I would assume that with so many former Soviets living in Israel, that they must have a few high caliber boxers.
Only ***ish fighters I can think of off the top of my head are Yuri Foreman and does anybody remember Roman Greenberg?
Greenberg was a HW boxer, undefeated in about 28 fights that was hyped as the next big thing when he fought practically unheard of Cedric Boswell (who was meant to be a stepping stone) & was slaughtered in a round or two.
I still remember the commentator going absolutely insane about it, the way he reacted it was like it was the best day of his life lol

Boswell hardly touched him with anything there...Greenberg wasn't much of a defensive fighter although he actually had better defense in that fight than others...for at least as long as it lasted. I've seen him take much more than that and then KO his past opponents. That was an unnecessary and early stoppage in Boswell's hometown. I'm not saying he was a great fighter...but that fight wasn't for real.
