ok, it seems pretty much unanimous that lacy will win this fight if he doesn't do anything ******/careless.

so, assuming the boxing gods are smiling upon us, and lacy v. calzaghe happens sometime this year or early next year, what's the outcome? i've seen calzaghe fight a grand total of 3 times and from what i saw he looked *awesome* (tho, this was in the early 90's).
i haven't seen him recently (10 years), but, in a sport where people are physically hurting you in order to win, a man with a perfect record has got to be respected.

any insights on that bout, in terms of styles and strengths/weaknesses? specifically, in regards to my last post when i mentioned that a guy with a chin and some pop, but more importantly a brain and a game plan can beat lacy.
is calzaghe the guy? is he a methodical fighter who can think on his feet and give lacy problems with his gameplan and not only his physical prowess?

Well I am confident that so long as the REAL Joe Calzaghe turns up... He'll oblitirate Jeff Lacy. And I'm 95% sure that for a fight like the Lacy fight, the REAL Joe Calzaghe will turn up!

            Uncle Rico -

I'll explain the "REAL" Calzaghe thing I'm going on about.

About 18 months ago, Joe Calzaghe had a bitter split up with his wife and they dragged it through the courts. As is the fashion with football players these days, in court she was awarded a percentage of his future earnings.

Well he's obviously pissed off with her and he appealed to the court saying, "I've gotta go into the professional Boxing ring as a World champion and risk getting brain damage, only for my ex-wife to take a percentage of my purse whilst sitting on her ass at home!"

So at 1st he said, "f**k it, I'll quit then!" - But after his father (trainer/manager) sat him down and talked to him - Joe Calzaghe decided to continue fighting.

At the time this was all going on, was the time he went 12 rounds and got put on his ass by Kabray Salem. Calzaghe won all of the 12 rounds on the scorecards, but the "dodgey" signs were showing.

When he got knocked down by the Egyptian (Salem), from a boxers point of view it was because he left his chin in the air after delivering a combination... Which suggested that he'd been doing a lot of work on the pads, but no sparring!

Anyway... In his last fight against Mario Veit, he looked awesome, So I'm hoping that he's sorted out his problems and is gonna move on to bigger and better things.

              martin,

if veit was the german guy then i saw that fight
and calzaghe did infact look great.
and that guy was game, so, to me it wasn't
the case that calzaghe simply looked cuz he fought a bum.

thanks for the insight man, much appreciated.

i really would like to see calzaghe fight more american
fighters, such as lacy just so i can see more of him without
having to buy *crappy* homemade dvd's like i've done in
              the past.

Well Uncle Rico... If you take some time to learn how to use the internet and get the most from you broadband (that's not meant in a patronising tone), you can learn how to find fights on the internet for Download, (Most of the time they're fights that happen on Saturday night and are ready for download on Sunday morning), - but most importantly, they don't cost you a penny.

Bit *******, is a way of finding and downloading fights, and joining a members lounge here is another way... But I'm sure there are many, many more boxing websites on the net that do the same stuff.

I'm a member of Elveiel's lounge on this website.

It means a lot to me because I'm in the UK and sometimes we don't get to see some of the big fights in the U.S. on British tv!

                  martin,
thanks, i'll learn how to use this big bad internet

actually, i'm a database developer so, 8-10 hours of my day
involves starting at nothing but code on my monitors,
so watching movies, fights, videos, etc is something i'd
rather watch on tv while my ass in planted firmly on
my couch with a drink, than in front of my laptop or pc.

                  but thanks for the suggestion

Great chin but whether he has the engine anymore to outwork Lacy i dunno.

Lacy had better watch for that big counter right hand though. Either Lacy points or Reid KO.

Its a 60-40 fight in favour of lacy in my opinion.
got that wrong lacy looked very decent in my book, to kd a man who has never been stopped 4 times then stop him is impressive.
