24/7 comes on normal HBO and obviously they have to hype up anything to make non-boxing fans buy it. But Amir Khan on PPV is taking the piss to a whole new level Amir Khan on PPV!
When was the last time 55,000 Americans turned out to watch a boxing match?
Carl Froch gets attendances of 10,000 fighting bums, I really doubt our boxing scene is "poor".
Also you're last part is very misleading, Froch was scheduled to fight Dennis Inkin but he pulled out, then he was supposed to fight Berrio who also pulled out, then he was supposed to fight Rubin Williams but he had to pull out so he was left with the shockin yet 'unbeaten' Albert Rybacki. I saw the fight on the net and damn Rybacki was poor, one of the worst boxers I've ever seen, Froch outclassed him. Yet the only reason 10,000 turned up and it was packed was because the audience were expecting to see him fight Inkin, which would have been a good fight, then when the crowd were expecting Berrio (top 5 ranked)... my point being, if they had known he was fighting Rybacki there would NEVER have been 10k people there dude, they were expecting to see the Inkin fight or at the least the Berrio fight, but as they had already bought tickets, they thought **** it might as well go.
I already pay £70 per month to watch Sky sports I refuse to pay £15 more to watch two average fighters fighting unknown talents or in the case of Khan outright bums.
It would be like making Hatton vs Thraxton with Calzaghe vs Christie on the undercard PPV IN 2000..
If you like paying $65 or whatever for a boxing event, well good luck with that, but personally, I think it's not only a rip off but it also damages boxing when the sport goes over almost entirely to subscription tv and PPV.
