You got to remember everyone looks **** against hopkins thats what he does and thats what happened now calzaghe should fight pavlik.
I think it would be pretty similar to Calzaghe-Kessler tbh..

i thought Calzaghe did very well, he fought hopkins in his own back yard, under his rules and still beat him.

Hopkins' whole style is to make the fight into a ****fest. He is simply horrible to watch.

Calzaghe fought okay, wasn`t great but did enough to scrap a win. Hopkins was just Hopkins, boring from beginning to end and ultimately he got what he deserved for his negative tactics.

I think that you are being totally unfair to Joe

Joe did not have his best night last night. That being said, I can't believe that there are people out there who actually think that Hopkins somehow won that fight, unbelievable! Hopkins would have made anyone look bad last
night. All he did was grab and hold, grab and hold the entire fight, he wouldn't allow Calzaghe to fight. What about the 5 minute rest he took on the punch to his upper abdomen? What B.S.
Do you know what impresses me most about Joe? Everything that he has accomplished in the ring his entire career he did on NATURAL ABILITY ALONE.
Why do I say that? He's been trained his whole life by his father,
A jazz musician, who understands f**k all about the fight game.
Imagine, just imagine how good a fighter he would been had he been trained
the past 10 years or so
by a top notch trainer like Floyd Mayweather Sr., Emanuel Steward or even
Buddy McGirt, someone who would have really taught him how to fight and maximize his talents? A good strength and conditioning coach like Hopkin's has wouldn't hurt either. Emanuel Steward was pointing out minor adjustments that he could have made last night which would have led to his winning the fight more decisively than he did. I think that it's a shame that Calzaghe never had the benefit of a top trainer. You can blame his father for that.

Calzaghe Still Has Very Much To Prove

Calzaghe got a win whoopy doo, Hopkins is 43 years old. Just by Calzaghe edging by doesn't mean anything. Calzaghe still has to fight 3 more american fights to prove he's something. If i was Calzaghe i wouldn't be celebrating too hard over this fight with Hopkins like he accomplished much. The fight last night was all about what Hopkins was unable to do than what Calzaghe was able to. Calzaghe fought a shell of Hopkins and couldn't do much, which give testimony on how great a fighter Hopkins was. 7 years ago Hopkins would have crushed Calzaghe and theres' no doubt about it. Hopkins is a living legend and should retire as such. Everyone wants to start calling Calzaghe pound 4 pound shows how weak and unimportant it is to be on the pound 4 pound list.

he fought an awful fight tonight, and only just squeezed out a win in my opinion. hopkins neutralized him BIG TIME throughout the majority of the fight.

I REALLY wanted Joe to put on a stellar performance, but he didn't. Fair enough in some peoples eyes a win is a win, but not in mine.

He was lucky to get that victory, he didn't silence any critics, and is more than likely going to fight RJJ next, who has no business even being in the ring anymore.

Even in victory it appears Joe has lost in terms of the educated british boxing fans opinion.
its more down to how hopkins made him look

I really believe that had the referee been more rigourous with Hopkins incessant holding tactics, it would have been a different fight.

You cant seriously be allowed to clinch every time soemone moves onto the inside, its ridiculous.

All Hopkins did was grab Calzaghe at every opportunity and fire a right hand on the way in. He ran for the whole fight and looked like he ran out of steam by round 9.

If the fight was fought under queensbury rules, which Cortez should try reading, Hopkins would have been out of there on exhaustion alone.

He gets through 12 round fights because he spends 2 minutes of every round hugging his opponent.

Someone needs to do something, its a joke.

I was hugely disappointed in Joe and scared as hell of the decision when it was over. If anything, the result of the fight only made Hopkins look better and Joe look worse. Joe was SUPPOSED to win, yet a 43 year old Hopkins gave joe the toughest fight of his life and hit him more accurately and flush than kessler did. Hopkins might not have won but he really did have the moral victory in the end.
