Then you get people like Kelly Pavlik. He was 31-0 (28) before 80% of people even knew who he was.

If Khan beats Earl or Thaxton then I'll start respecting him a bit more but whilst Frank Warren is sticking him in the ring with these bums who don't even punch back and then Khan gets ****y when he beats them i wont.
what the hell you on about. do you think even in amaerica they know kelly pavlik? they probably don't know calzaghe etc either. if you can name any 17 eyar old that has a silver medal in the uk then they would get hype too.

    britain hypes up any winner.

he is lucky to get so much attention, but it's not his fault. some people in life get ucky and make money etc... doesn't mean we should hate.

yeah - but when the hype starts to cloud the truth - it becomes embaressing.

You ask any housewife or casual fight fan and they think Amir Khan is currently the greatest boxer on earth.

Its just not true and a discredit to those respected fighters who are better than him, with ALOT less credit......im lookin at you Thaxton.

Maybe if schools in the United Kingdom focused on training the kids in sports other than football, everyone would have less of a boner when someone with a hint of talent emerges in another sport.

Sometimes I wish I went to school in america just for the attention to sports that they have over there.

Agreed... sports in schools needs more focus.

But i don't think school physical education has anything to do with people hating on Khan.

I'd go for Graham Earl for his next fight, but he'll need to improve on his defence a hell of a lot.

He showed slight improvement with keeping his hands up but Lawton didn't really stand a chance.

            I already think he's a decent talent

if so, who is the bare minimum opponent who he would have to beat for you to change your mind?

And if it doesn't matter who he beats, what will change your mind?

And if nothing can change your mind, whats the problem???

              just curious.

Until he is a contender then why does he deserve any more respect than any other kid trying to make it?
              Just curious.

Prospects should be treated as such until they become champions.
              Same as any other sport.

he doesn't. i don't disagree there. but equally i don't think he deserves more hate than any other kid trying to make it....

not giving him more respect than other prospects is not what i call "hate" and is not the point of the thread. i myself am firmly in the "wait and see" camp, and think he's progressing faster than you'd expect of any other prospect.

I hate Amir Khan. He's not even British, so I don't see why the press keeps on hyping him up.
