One of the very best boxing books I've ever read was the "Fighting Fisherman" bio on Yvon Durelle, which is filled with plenty of boxing content in regard's to Durelle's career, and also does a very good job at portraying Durelle as the rough & gruff type of character that he is.

It's been years since I read that one. Doesn't he mention his first professional fight wearing a bathing suit and sneakers?

It's also been years since I've read it, my friend, so a bunch of the specific contents of the book are lost on me too...Although if it included the bathing suit & sneakers story it would not suprise me at all, as the book certainly isn't one about the glamourous side of the sport.
