Linear champion is quite different than alpha titles, DD, and can only be won & lost inside the ring...barring a fighter's permanent retirement, of course.

Neither McCall, Bruno, or Seldon ever won a linear title.

They were never the "Real" Heavyweight champions.

They held Alphabet titles but were never considered "The" Heavyweight Champion of the world. They were only considered "A" heavyweight champion.

We all live in only one world, and I don't see how we can possibly have four fighters all claiming to be the world's champion of a particular division...

              Doesn't make any sense.

Indeed. Which is why I follow the rings ratings/champions more than the pointless alphabet sanctioning bodies.

Nope. McCall had won it from Lewis who was awarded it by default. Lewis never won that belt in the ring; Rid**** Bowe was the Real World Champ at this time.

ok thats ******. rid**** refused to fight lennox even though he was the number one contender. champions should fight anyone who attains number one contender status. otherwise you could get a boxer fighting only bums and retaining his title into his 60's!!
