  • How good was Curtis Cokes?

He passed away earlier this year in Dallas.

https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/ot...es-dies-at-82/ but I don't know whatever happened to it.

I used to have a book he wrote called "The Complete Book of Boxing for Fighters and Fight Fans" but I don't know whatever happened to it. He held the welterweight title for a while in the 60's but lost it to the great Jose Napoles.

He was an underrated fighter. Fought in an era of Luis Rodriquez, Emile Griffith, Napoles and other excellent welters. I have the book he wrote on boxing training back in the seventies or eighties. No doubt he would be a champion today.

He had the right name. Jermall Cokes or Shane Cokes just doesn't cut it. The alliteration of Curtis works.
