And agreed to fight each of them therafter. In light of the information presented here, you're still going to say the proposed Johnson/Jeannette fight wasn't for the heavyweight title? I'd love to see what you base that on since your exhibition/no-decision angle just went down the drain.

So by all means, please explain. I'm all ears.

Poor Joe, his legacy according to travy is that he was a bitter liar...

By the way, how many threads was this very topic covered in? I haven't mentioned JJ in quite some time. I guess someone really needed my attention, lol. Too bad Jack tore up a signed contract to give Langford a title shot in 1909. He knew he would beat Burns when he signed it, it was all for show. But even Jack himself said there was no money in fighting coloreds, a direct admission of his drawing the color line as champ while ducking Jeannette, McVey and Langford. Can't change the history books. Whhaaaa!

Way to address the information presented

You don't want to address it, do ya? If you have no coherent response to it, just say so. I mean I completely understand that there is nothing more for you to say, but you can admit it, can't you?

False. The contract was voided by both sides once Burns agreed to fight. What they claimed was that there was a new contract for a May fight...that has never surfaced.

If you need the details about this, let me know. It's been posted before but apparently you ducked it like you are continuing to duck the information presented here. I wonder why, hmmm?

Matter of fact, this should serve to prove you are wrong. January 14th, 1909. If the contract was already set, why are they still negotiating the terms after the Burns fight, hmmm?

JOE WOODMAN, LANGFORD'S MANAGER IS WILLING THAT HIS MAN SHOULD TAKE ON THE CHAMPION ACROSS THE WATER, BUT UNTIL HE RECEIVES HIS EXPENSES AND TRAINING MONEY HE WILL NOT CONSIDER THE OFFER FOR THE TIME BEING AT LEAST. WOODMAN HAS WIRED BETTISON STATING HIS TERMS AND IF THE LATTER AGREES TO THEM THE MATCH LIKELY WILL BE MADE WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

The English club officials asked the two blacks several months ago to agree to fight in London in the event that Johnson was successful over Burns, and both of them apparently promised at that time. THE MEN HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL OFFERS FROM BETTISON SINCE, BUT AS NO DEFINITE DATE WAS FIXED THE MATTER WAS ALLOWED TO DRAG.

Sorry. Jack Johnson never agreed to put up the title for a whopping $4000 if he won and $2000 if he lost, especially after Burns just got $30,000 for putting up the title. How ****** do you think he was? Another tall tail that was proven false.

If you need the date of that article verified, let me know. I'm here to assist you.

                Yo, GhostofDempsey

Are you going to respond to Kilbane's statement that his bout that was slated for the same card as Johnson/Jeannette and went on as planned was indeed for the championship, or not? I thought you said these could not have been for the title.

Just wondering if you want to address this like a man. Let me know.

From the notes on the photo in the book:

                  Aquarium

                  Directors

                  F. F. Tomas and M. P. Tsarev

Left side - The World’s Invincible Boxer, Johnson

Right side - Appearances Beginning July 15

Bottom = ???? Didn't include that final bit.

But, using this site: Russian alphabet to English - Transcription, pronunciation and audio

I'm pretty sure the bottom is another way to translate Johnson or some such because I got : D Zh O N S O N - You'll notice Russian does not have the J sound and the final character on the word on the bottom doesn't make a sound.

Best I can do for ya bud.

Welp. I guess he doesn't want to address the information. I'm going to leave it alone now as I consider this matter to be closed, but let me say this.

How pathetic that a boxing fan would hate a boxing great whose entire life took place likely before they were born, to the point that they would continue to perpetuate blatant lies in the face of clear evidence to the contrary. Absolutely unbelievable. Then again, this is the type of blind hate Jack Johnson had to put up with throughout his life. He didn't need anyone like me to defend him when he was alive, and doesn't need me to defend him now. But to call ourselves fans of the sport and to behave in such a manner in one of the biggest boxing forum's history section? Really? The blatant ducking of the evidence says it all. At this point, you don't want to know the truth, which is what we should seek in the history section. You want to hide the truth and spread lies and hate.

Shame shame shame on you for this being your contribution to the history section.

It's disgusting and utterly pathetic. Seek some help.
