    Turpin's place?

Was he the best middleweight on Robinson's ledger, or does that honor fall to... whom?

Boxing history is sprinkled with fighters who rose to greatness for a few fights. The night Buster Douglas beat Tyson he might have beaten any heavyweight who ever fought, but that was only one fight.

The Turpin of the two Robinson fights may have been one of the best middleweights ever, and I believe he would have been a complete handful for LaMotta or Fullmer.

How many here feel Turpin would beat a best Graziano, for instance?

He's no Marciano, I'll throw you that bone. But ge was a very, very good fighter. Much better than his record suggests. He could've achieved more under better circumstances. Not too many could do it like he did.

Robinson avenging his loss to Turpin might be his opus. But LaMotta was better than Turpin. And Olson was the best of Ray's entire career, since Armstrong and Angott were too small to ever have a chance.

The phenomena speaks for itself... You described Turpin,he could beat Graziano on a good night at least.

Turpin was brilliantly talented, but without the depth of resume to be the best MW on Robinson’s record.

I’d rank Lamotta, Fullmer and Olson over him.
