Ali would completely dismantle every heavyweight champion since Holmes. Against today’s very poor watered down fighters Ali would look as if he were fighting in a different dimension hitting opponents at will.

Ali was a sick man as of the first Spinks fight. Already showing signs of the condition that would eventually kill him.

So which is it? He was an invincible marvel; or a guy who was damaged goods at the ripe old age of 34, thanks to beatings from no one better than little Joe Frazier?

You guys love having it both ways.

I'll tell you what, he can bring all the bath salts he wants. It won't save him against the modern titans.

Mind explaining how today's fighters are "very poor watered down" fighters?

What weight were you when you Boxed?

Today we have many multiple potential champions in each division. So far easier to become a “champion” than in years past when their was only one path to the championship.

Secondarily their are many multiple sets of top ten contenders today so far easier to be called a top ten contender than in years past.

Then you have the elimination of the championship distance so now you do not need to be in greatest of shape to fight for a championship.

Lastly in the past their were many multiple boxing gyms in every major city each stocked with great trainers. Today you find few who really know the sport or how to teach it.

Fans like yourself do not know what great fighting is all about after do many years of watered down talent. Hence those who gravitate to heavyweight “size”, “reach”, “physique” or “strength” and ignore what is most important which are the talents that make great boxing.

Ali is rated as the greatest of all heavyweight champions by every historian or trainer worth his salt. It really is only debatable by the neophytes.

Ali has been the last 40 plus years and continues to be considered the greatest of all heavyweight champions. Rightfully so as he beat the most formidable list of contenders of any other heavyweight champion. His defeats of Liston and Foreman rocked the world while his come back to beat a surging Frazier in Manila provided all the information historians needed to give him the No 1 spot all time. With that win Ali checked all the boxes.

You must be one of those people who lobbied for KISS's acceptance into the hallowed walls in
Cleveland. And I bet you've never missed a Maroon 5 concert when they've come to town.

Is English not your first language? I said, "EXPLAIN"... not "rant on whatever is on your mind".

Not even sure how you can get those confused.

Wlad's jab is overrated by a lot of people. Clearly you're full kool-aid about it. Holmes can hit people who can move.
In fights when he got in trouble or felt he was losing control he would reestablish his jab and turn it around. Smart fighter. Great jab.

Sure. And i'll be the first to say that, for the standards of the day, Larry was quite skilled. The best Boxer-Puncher since Gene Tunney.

Holmes never had to fight a Fury, though. Not even close. Hell, he was completely irrelevant by the time he was Wlad's age for the Fury fight.

Holmes' best night was against Cooney. A dude who never really got his career in gear to begin with, and who entered the ring that night almost fully rusted-out due to inactivity.

Even then Holmes got battered and needed the desert heat to help him finish the job.

Holmes and Ali looked great against lousy opponents. Let's not pretend they'd look so formidable if transplanted into Wlad's place.
