Holmes never had to fight a Fury, though. Not even close. Hell, he was completely irrelevant by the time he was Wlad's age for the Fury fight.

Holmes' best night was against Cooney. A dude who never really got his career in gear to begin with, and who entered the ring that night almost fully rusted-out due to inactivity.

Even then Holmes got battered and needed the desert heat to help him finish the job.

Holmes and Ali looked great against lousy opponents. Let's not pretend they'd look so formidable if transplanted into Wlad's place.
OK but what does that have to do with the mechanics and intelligent use of Larry's jab??

      Everything.

If anything you ignored the point that the effectiveness of Larry's jab often faded as the fight progressed.

Have the guys he fought wouldn't survive the amateurs today long enough to go Pro.

No one who has ever Boxed would actually say Ali has a better, more versatile jab than Wlad. He's Steward's hallmark.

Sure, Ali's was effective - there's none faster, it came at crazy unpredictable angles, and it was great for cutting opponents. But it's not better than Wlad's. You don't know Boxing if you dispute that.
You cry and gnash your gnarled teeth everytime I post because of our juxtapositions.

Don't think I don't recognize why you and Queen take issue. It's not because I'm the loon you pretend, I see you deal with actual loons incapable of a point. It's because you end up with nothing to say but personal attacks and you're small so you do that.

Unpredictable angles but not a superior jab says the well trained and experienced Rusty? Where'd you go for training? Fencing school?

Says the guy who claims Fury simply diffused Wlad's offense with "basic footwork". Show me who else has utilized that footwork across 12 Rounds at Heavyweight. Explain to me how Fury's feints weren't part of the equation.

Holmes wouldn't get away with that jab in Wlad's era. Wlad would've ended fights using his jab against Holmes' opponents.

Again, Golota had a better jab than Holmes. Maybe the best jab of all of them, but he wasn't as dependent on it. And he clearly didn't last long enough to give any meaningful sample size to draw from.

                What about Archimedes?

How about Kleitos of Tyre... didn't he put on quite the exhibition against Theodorus of Cyrenica back in 484?

And didn't Aurelius the Saddlemaker put on an absolute clinic against Ugar the Bulgar in 830?

Such a good line it deserves two posts huh? Neither of which have anything of worth...as predicted.

Any boxing fan who watches the complete train wreck which is Fury and thinks he is seeing good boxing should be banned. Holmes is 10 times the fighter. Fury is the only heavyweight contender I spend round after round laughing at. A product of the horrible watered down boxing scene of the last 30 years. Fans are now watered down as they no longer understand what great boxing is all about.
