That was the first fight and Lenny took it lightly eg didnt train for it.In the second fight he won in the first round after proper training.

Right. Ive read Lenny’s book. I’ve seen as many of his fights that are on YouTube. I have Roy Shaw’s book, and seen what’s available of his fights. Lenny never talks about the underground boxing fights he lost, and he lost more than a few. Enough not to make his record not all that amazing. I know he talks about never losing on “The cobbles” but that’s really him pounding drunken pub patrons. Tank Abbot said he never lost in hundreds of street fights. Tough guy for sure with a devastating punch, but look at his mma record. U can see sum of the guys Lenny lost too to put things into perspective also. There’s a lot of mythology in the British underworld, and it’s romanticized. I know they use the term “hard men” and have their “king of the bouncers”. But unlike the UK, in North America there’s gun play everywhere. Calling yourself “king of the bouncers” aka “The Guv’ner” will only get u killed here. I can appreciate being able to have hundreds of fights “on the cobbles” but that’s only a thing over there, its a luxury. U wouldn’t be able to live to tell about it over here. Obviously Tank is exaggerating by miles also. Both guys would have killed someone in that many victories or been killed them selves. Any street fight can jam u up bad. Legit tough guys for sure, but we have to take a lot of this with a grain of salt.

The difference in level and quality here is immense. Mclean and Shaw weren't even local area champion level in the ring. Patterson and Liston were world heavyweight champion boxers. Mclean couldn't last a round with either in the ring.

In as streetfight it's very different. I guess Mclean gets hold of them and starts his biting and butting etc then it could be over but I think its more likely that world heavy champ level boxers knock him spark out before he gets at them.

These street guys are hard men and Mclean was clearly that but we are talking a whole different level really.

What we do know is that Mclean fought a couple of guys with boxing experience of some level - Fields and Waldren and he was knocked out in a round against both.

I'm sure the street thug could win if he caught Liston or Patterson unaware with a tire iron

Someone is actually arguing that this guy could beat a HW Champion of the World?

            Really?

This guy doesn't survive the first combination thrown at him.

And I don't mean that as hyperbole, I mean it literally. He doesn't handle the first combination thrown at him.

I am sure the guy is tough but unfortunately he does not know how to fight. At the highest level the ability to fight will dominate over a street tough who does not. If they are seriously intent to do so Sonny and Floyd end it in round 1.
