Imagine Mike with those little gloves back in Joe Louis days ? Louis said Marciano would have always beat him because of his cramping style ,if he can do it i dont see why a much formidable Tyson couldn't .
    Yeah.

Or... what could Godoy do that Tyson couldn't?

He did try to cut weight to fight Conn, so one would think if he thought to would benefit him he coukd add weight for Tyson and come in just over 200 pounds, or so.
Louis was 207 lbs for the B. Baer and Abe Simon rematches. That would be a good weight for him to be at vs Tyson

Louis best prime weight was 202 pounds as per Louis himself.

I think so. Discussing weight here is a loaded subject. The size queens maintain that a fighter who weights more will have a major advantage...This is countered with the proposition that classical training involved coming in as light as one could, generally speaking.

Then there is the fact that weight gains become less and less significant as fighters get heavier which is why the heavyweights are an open division. Of course we do have to look at the size of a modern heavyweight critically on the other end as well... But its hard to when so many fundamentals seem lacking. A very tricky issue on the whole!

I found those who gravitate to SIZE, REACH, WEIGHT when discussing why larger heavyweights beat smaller have the least knowledge of the subject. Just because a fighter is bigger does not mean this is an advantage. Having a longer reach does not mean you outjab a smaller opponent (speed, timing and skill are much more important criteria).

Taking nothing away from Tyson, who was a great fighter, but Louis beats every version of Tyson: Louis was just on another level.

Hopefully not the Louis who did wrestling matches.

Tyson could take Schmeling's punches all day. If I had to bet on this fight and if it were the real deal, I would have to pick prime Tyson over Louis. The reason is simple: I don't think he can take Tyson's shots but Tyson can take enough of his to get the job gone. Tyson takes a better shot and gives a better one, plus his chin was better than it is given credit for.
