I liked Klitschko. Coming out of the Olympics he was a force. But I fell off the wagon when people started jumping on because of race. Than he lost to Purrity, Sanders and Brewster, and the wheels fell of the bus.
Wlad came back, but his style changed dramatically. Given his physical attributes I expected more. He was disappointing to me, in my opinion. I feel the level of the heavyweight division was at it's worst at this time. Top 20 contenders came and went in the blink of an eye. B it Wlad lasted, persevered and kept winning after his setbacks. He took on the best (no matter what myself or anyone else thinks of them) and kept winning. There is something to be said for that. It takes a GREAT fighter, no matter his era, to stay focused and win that many championship fights. I could go on about him splitting the tie with his brother (who I don't hold in nearly the same esteem) but the fact is Wlad beat the best of his time and took on all available. As much as I have him ****, I think he an all time too 10 fighter at heavyweight.
- -His fight with AJ at age 40 after a two year layoff waiting fruitlessly for his Fury rematch was epic.
Takes two to tango and AJ the only fighter with enough assets able to tango with him. Watching him humiliate Haye in public and get paid to do it was priceless.
His best fight was vs Joshua though he lost. That fight made him, just like Dempsey gained most of his fans in losing to Tunney. Tyson gained the most respect for his good sportsmanship in losing to Lewis. Sometimes boxers win when they lose.
