    Jack Johnson Fall From Grace-Boxrec

    - -Whoooboy!

Boxrec completely upended their carefully crafted algorithm developed over 2 decades for this Whooper that has set fans, experts, and tyny teensies howlin' at the exploding outrages.

No one has suffered more than the legendary Jack Johnson, today ranked 164th all time heavyweight.

Nothing is more embarrassing than Boxrec's rating system. Even with modern fighters it is a complete laughing stock.

      - -Their ratings of current fighters used to be the unbiased best.

No LoonyTunes Teddy and the like always tossing turrds in the punchbowl.

Now nobody likes the new algorithm and as such the established one will likely be restored.

That is one way to look at it, another might be that this statistical analysis exposes the anecdotal nonsense constantly espoused on this forum. -- Looks like a whole bunch of people's heroes took a fall, but not to worry, we'll just blame the math and go back to being the 'experts' we claim to be.

Why should he rank any higher? His best wins were much smaller or inexperienced fighters. He was the first black HW champion, that was where all the glory came from, that and he was villainized by the media and government. They made some books and movies about his life because they could sell the story. But Langford deserved far more credit than Johnson ever did. He was just never able to win the title, so he didn't get the glory, no thanks in part to Johnson.

            This is silly.

Jack Johnson can't fall from grace. His place in history is already etched in stone. People are free to rank him where they will.

Interesting new P4P as well I'm guessing...?

              1. Ezzard Charles
              2. Archie Moore
              3. Sugar Ray Robinson
              4. Floyd Mayweather
              5. Bernard Hopkins

              That's interesting.

On the new list the Brits pull in 11 of the top 100, or 10%. Which is quite impressive. (Highest rank 5/Lewis)

Germany is (surprisingly to me) well represented with four. (Highest rank 23/Schmeling)

Russia doesn't fare well with only three reps. (Highest rank 20/Valuev)

The old 'Eastern Block' fares better with eight representatives. (With Ukrainians [3], Uzbekistan, and Poland added to the thee Russians.) (Highest rank 6/Klitschko)

Americans make up eight of the top ten; 12 of the top 15; 15 of the top 20.

This list really does go way beyond conventional wisdom, to a point where it almost seems silly at times. E.g. Cooney is ranked ten slots above Langford.

I can't conceive myself ever betting a ten spot on Gerry Cooney.

Eddie Machen was better than Jack Dempsey according to these new rankings.

Safe to say they can be thrown in the garbage can.
