There really was a difference in counting time but not that big. The point is that Douglas (who was overally a better fighter that night) was extremely lucky because a second later the bell saved him from a heavy KO.

Not that lucky. Douglas was dazed for a few seconds, but you can see him pick up the ref's count and look right at him before he gets up, so how slow or fast the count was didn't matter at that point. Besides, haven't you seen the side by side knockdown video on youtube? It shows the ref's count being pretty consistent both times, so he counts slow, but at the same pace both times:

        - -You boys can diddle this all you want, but reports out of Japan showed a struggling Tyson camp with his new comedy team who showed up half ****ed and no bull it's for the cooked Tyson. He replicated a walking punching bag in search of a trigger.

Douglas didn't have to fight dirty, but perhaps was riled over previous comments.

Buster on the floor for a traditional 10 count that the comedy ref extended for laughs.

Mission Accomplished with Tyson now the butt of endless comedy highlights with his gummy stuck in backwards and upside down.

No rematch and Tyson was worked into the Big House while his $50 mil retirement acct was being ransacked by the usual suspect in a story older than recorded history.

End of save the usual blithering buffoonary needing some twaddle to dwindle their Low Qs.

I remember watching the fight live (on telly), and wasn't worried about Douglas, ****ing his fist to the floor (damn, I got knocked down). He had control of the count.

I like Tyson. I like watching his fights. He was NOT a "clean" fighter under Rooney and the rest of OGTyson team. He did get massively more dirty though, attempts to break arms etc when he, King or whomever, chased the others off. But the dirty I am talking about isn't much worse than most guys did anyway. Tyson had a VERY fast elbow from the get go. That is undeniable. Many guys do too though. He was no in ring angel is all I am saying. Oh, he was 'prone" to hitting guys on the break himself. Lots of guys are. it seems to almost be an "art" with some. Douglas just gave it back and everything in the whole universe aligned that night to fell the beast.
