  • Me vs Tubby Lar

    - -Amusing how "boxing experts" here "think" Lar beats Big George absent any proof he was anywhere near George when they were both active.

So, using that existential "boxing expertise," I put forth I could beat Lar based on my natural attributes and knowledge of the style used by Lar and the ones needed to beat him.

I can't beat Big George though. I'd pull Tyson when King proposed George who was publicly clamoring for that fight and meltdown on the spot.

Lar the easy $$$ fight , so yowsir, bring him to me posthaste!

    Who's with me?

    Who's a'gin me?

Seriously? Dumb. Holmes will big boot you Hulk Hogan's style, you'll never see him as he'll spring forth from the shadows, and that part will be Batman style. IF he chooses to wear that real snazzy windbreaker tracksuit getup outfit thing, you just may be able to, on account of said snazzy windbreaker outfit, hear him, well, more hear his thighs, going "swish swish swish" towards your general vicinity,

      - -Well, I admit if Lar jumped off a car hood onto my back while trying to keep Richie Giatti at bay in the prefight, he might take me down that would also work as an alternative strategy as I roll him around like a barrel.

I really do wonder how things would play out when rubber hit the ground: Holmes never had to deal with the power and pressure of guys like Frazier and Foreman. He might not handle it well.

That being said, he was better than Jimmy Young, and didn't have Ali's flaws (but was a better puncher).

While he had his hands full with Shavers and Cooney, he really did have the skills needed to frustrate Foreman, who fell apart when his opponent wouldn't fall down.

Just as ridiculous as it is to dismiss Big George;s chances of bombing out Holmes, it's ridiculous to dismiss Holmes' chances of out-foxing and out-lasting Foreman.

Holmes should be the favorite based on the available evidence, but no one can fault someone picking Foreman.

What was the whole story behind that? Berbick going on and on about some call girl that Larry Holmes got to ruin his marriage or something?

            Was Queenie the call girl?

LMAO. The bold had me dying.

From what I understand Berbick was talking about Larry Holme's wife. Yikes!

No wonder he jumped off a car and drop kicked him. lol I'm not certain of the story, but I'm guessing Larry's wife and Berbick's wife became friends during/after their fight....and Berbick felt that Larry's wife manipulated his wife into hitting the town and having a bit too much fun.

This guy's percentage for picking winners is supposedly, like, OMG you guys, the greatest thing ever, and here is his answering the Holmes vs Foreman question for us, and doing so 20ish years ago it looks like.
