But the absolute best Foreman sears through everyone except godoy. Godoy, when he did what he was supposed to do, was hard to hit hard and clean, and could keep coming.

Louis didn't fight a prime Baer, but if he did it's possible he might have lost. The best Baer was as great as the Baer that Louis fought was terrible. Baer was a scary guy.

But, I wouldn't pick the best Baer to beat Foreman, either. At least, he's not the one I'd put my money on, if I were forced to bet. It would probably play out like a better version of Foreman-Lyle. Unfortunately, just as Baer was about to take off, his career fell apart.

    magical.
Godoy is a new name for a possible victor over a prime George Foreman. You're the first I ever heard mention him as having a chance vs a young George Foreman.

Godoys a possible, to go the distance with a young Inex Foreman, he won't go past 5 with champion George.

I can see that. A 73/74 Foreman would uppercut Godoy to heaven.

I also wouldn't favor Max Baer - but with his chin and power, he could (like Lyle) maybe make an all-out slugfest interesting. Not that I think he would win, but of all Louis' opponents, he's the only one I would give even a slight chance.
Max was trash you slow person he didnt hit that hard compared to real hws who had better tech

I'd favor nobody over prime 72'-77' George from that era, save for Louis himself.
Best chance to drag him into the tired and frustrated zone before Foreman lowered the boom would probably belong to Roy Lazer, Bob Pastor, Nathan Mann, Ezzard Charles and Jimmy Bivins. But I doubt them. Foreman is my pick for best heavyweight of the post-Ali Era(s), and for allot of good reasons.
.....And a shout out to moneytheman, who likely doesn't know that Jimmy Young fought allot more like a 1930s n' 40s fighter than he did a 21st century one.
