I think it's ALWAYS been MUCH MORE common with gay men (not people, gay women virtually never get HIV outside of through using needles). The stats I've been aware of for over a decade ago, when I was around someone with HIV which made me look into it all more, said the same as now so it's not new.

I've heard even in adult movies, they use the pills beforehand so they're good to go as long as they need to be for however many hours a day of shooting lasts for them. I listen to a couple podcasts that has p#rn actresses on them & they still mention guys using whatever it is they shoot in their ****. Idk if they are crazy or not. I just heard it's much more effective & faster hence why it's still being used today I imagine. It's horrifying to hear them even bring it up so casually but it seems fairly whatever-ish overall.

Well I guess if guys that use steroids still inject them, then it makes sense that guys will still use a needle because it goes right to that part of the body right away, but it just sounds really unsafe. I hope they have some kind of medical staff on set these days, since the industry seems to be more regulated now, with more drug and STD testing today.

CDC is good for a few things no doubt, but I don't rely on them as experts other than the narrow range they operate in.

In particular I like how they're trying to get more definitive gun violence reporting, another American #1 category of the western powers.
