Just saw this about Ali and Marciano, "the fight."

    KInd of touching.

On the morning of his 1967 fight against Ernie Terrell in the Houston Astrodome, Muhammad Ali sat in his hotel room watching a film of Rocky Marciano challengin…

Its interesting that we compare these guys relentlessly, and when they get a chance to do so, they learn to respect each other a great deal.

Two different kinds of fighters, not sure why people always try to match them up.

      - -Rocky always supported Ali even thru his Liston debacles even before their computer fight where they got to be friends.

Ali was at Rocks funeral and had one of the boulders at deer lake painted with Rocks name.

That is the beauty of boxing to me. The actual fight was, as the article points out a bit of a dud...The concept was lacking. But it had a profound effect on the relationship between these two.

Ali often was called "arrogant" yet when you really listen to him, how he feels about Louis and Marciano for example, he is very respectful, and very sincere.

            I'd prefer Rocky vs. Tyson

Odd that fighting can bring two people together even a make believe one. I don't want to ruin the thread but there is a video of Willie Pep, Floyd Patterson, Rocky Graziano and Jersey Joe Walcott together talking. Interesting take on racial dislike and respect given by Graziano.
