Right?! For a 16-5 fighter, who also didn't start boxing until post high school, I believe that's what they said, he handled himself fairly well and I would say did himself rather proud.
Golota on the other hand? I hadn't watched a Golota fight since the Bowe debacles, and I was only 13ish at that time, so I never noticed just how fast he could be in there, and/or maybe it was more just how slick he could be that was impressing me, or maybe Sanders just helped Golota to come off that way? I dunno, but I thought they both were pretty good in this fight.

Golota before the car accident was one of the smoothest, fastest and accurate combination punchers you'll ever see for a HW. That left hand of his was especially lethal.

Well... for what it is worth I agree with you. That fight did show Golota at his best and he was big, strong, with fast hands. Corrie on the other hand punched very well. Its sad that both of them never quite lived up to some of that ability displayed that night but, that fight demonstrated some fantastic fighting. Corrie was also light on his feet, and that short left hook was devistating! golota had excellent movement and use of the jab setting up his punches. They were also both in great shape.

Poor Duva lol. Golota was such a handful for him, but we know what he saw in the guy.

I'll have to look into this car accident you mention. As to your reply, I second all of that. As I said, I just had no idea that's who Golata was capable of being when on his game. Also, one thing that came to mind after reading your comment was that, at least in this fight, Golota was looking like a young Larry Holmes, specifically the Holmes seen in both of the Shavers fights, and some of the Holmes from the Norton fight. And, again, at least in this fight, he looked good/comfortable fighting in that manner. He most certainly wasn't just doing a bad impression of Holmes or any other technically skilled HW's, a la the multitude of guys seen today doing bad impressions of fighters from the past who were capable of using the Philly shell/shoulder roll effectively. Last, it's pretty cool/entertaining/interesting watching a real life, giant Drago lookalike, fighting successfully with, if I'm understanding it correctly, what I think can be considered the "urban style."
              Anyway, thanks for responding

I haven't watched this bout since it originally aired, but as I recall it was a really good fight. What I think is notable is that Golota didn't cave under pressure here. I can't help but wonder if Golota's mindset was that he would never be as good as Bowe, Lewis, Grant, and Tyson and therefore wouldn't allow himself to win those bouts. Whereas with someone like Corey Sanders he KNEW he was the better guy and therefore wouldn't allow himself to cave when Sanders offered a stiff challenge.

                  - -Golata don't think like normal folk.

So, let's not attribute what he was thinking.
