You know? there is something called power to weight ratio. Just because you are bigger does not by any means, MEAN you will be faster, Stronger or have a more powerful punch.

I have been saying this time and time again, going back in history the fighters where just better athletes. For example for his size, Tyson Fury is quite weak physically, not impressive in the slightest.

Factoring in that the participation levels where higher in boxing during the past decades, there were always going to be fighters such as Shavers and Chuvalo etc We get a lot of cross over fighters these days, guys who just fell into boxing, or failed in other athletic disputes at times.

That is why people seem to think they could turn NFL players and Basketball players into great fighters these days. 'Going back in history you was a fighter first and foremost'.
    - -Rather the typical, formulaic paint by the numbers, Ill Studied logic.

Boxing has always had cross pollination with other sports.

And calling Fury weak when he held his own in Wlad clinches that typically paralyze other fighters shows a distinct lack of aptitude or selective denial.

I saw this fun video on youtube on "The best chins in boxing" and they, of course, had Chuvalo in there. Apparently, apart from standard fighting conditioning, he was actually actively working on developing an indestructible chin through extensive exercise of the face and neck. I think most reasonable fighters do this to some extent or another nowadays, but he probably took it to the next level.

According to that vid, Hagler did a lot of such exercises as well.

Having a good chin often just comes down to mindset.

According to himself, Chuvalo did a lot of separate work on what he called his "collar."

size doesnt improve chin directly - the related factors such as height reach that come with increased size that make you more difficult to catch on the chin.

Just piling on fat has no effect on what it takes to lamp you out when hit on the jaw.
