Im half Korean and Ill say this. When we are discussing Asian fighters, we are generally referring to East Asians such as Korea, Japan, and China.
It’s laughable when dudes categorize the likes of Vitali, GG, and Khan as Asian. Geographically, sure India and Kazak may be in Asia but ya get the drift.
When im drinking with the boys and somebody brings up Asian fighters, nobody is going to fkin mention Amir Khan or hey, Vitali Klitschko is the best Asian HW of all time! Lol that’s ******ed.
In Korea, when we talk about great Korean fighters from the past, we dont look at GG and say hey that guy is half Korean so he is one of us. Nobody gives a rat’s ass about GG. Nobody in Korea knows who he is, they might think he is some factory worker from Russia or somesht.
Vitali Klit is Asian? Haha wth

that's how i think. nobody is going to convince anybody here to change his opinion so feel free to think whatever you want. i just stated a fact that vitali was born in asia thinking that maybe that poster didn't know that. if somebody doesn't consider people born in kazakhstan, india, israel, turkey asian that's like saying egyptians are not african because they are not black.
we would just have to agree to disagree and not argue pointlessly. i have nothing more to say.

- -First the 7 Continents are a man made geographic delineation, and like all continents today there has been heavy mixing between the races, most esp on the borders.
No need to fuss over man made stuff any more than we are drowning in.

With that being said, the Greeks coined the word, it simply was a way to describe people who were out of site... Remember that to the Greeks they had knowledge of Phonecians, Egypt/Africa, Mesopotamian, ect... But there were people who came from farther out...
This is why the term gets used and racially charged at times. Oriental has some pecularities as well... But these terms have all been usurped by better descriptive indicators.
Keep in mind that many indicators used for race were geographical: Caucasian is not a white person, but a person from the mountainious region of the Caucasoid mountains. These people were the Arians who travelled from this region and eventually wound up in India, the so called Arian invasion... hence we have places they stopped along the way like Iran, or Arian... and similar customs as well... And Latin? I don't like the word personally because it really refers to the Roman Empire... Yet somehow gets associated with all kinds of individuals. Castillions, white Romans, Spaniards, mediterainians...etc etc.
It is interesting with Africa because unlike India (Aryan/Dravidian) China (Han, Mogel/Manchu) there is no dominant migration, or group that defines the genotype(s). Africa probably has more genetic diversity regarding the human genome than any other country...although China, by sheer numbers would give it a run for its money perhaps!
Probably a little too much info lol!Last edited by billeau2; 04-08-2019, 06:51 PM.

Yoko Gushiken is up there, amazing boxer and always great to watch.
Naoya Inoue just recently.
Jung Koo-Chang, obvious choice.
Payakaroon was always in entertaining fights
Pone Kingpetch.
Veerphol Sahaprom
Flash Elorde for what limited footage we have is great.
Not boxing but one of the few K1 fighters I can watch is Buakaw Por Pramuk, his work against Mike Zambidis was beautiful.
I guess Gushiken is the only I'd call a favourite but there's so many great Asian boxers that are a joy to watch
