How did a punch to the back of the head get known as rabbit punches?

"The punch's name is derived from the use of the technique by hunters to kill rabbits with a quick, sharp strike to the back of the head." - Wikipedia

I was wondering if you historians knew of cases where serious injuries or death were caused by rabbit punches. I see fighters throw them and get warned for them all the time despite the fact they're considered illegal, is the likelihood of serious injury pretty low?
I must first tell you that I have never punched a rabbit. Then I must inform you that when a human skull is forming in the womb that the 2 halves of the skull form together causing a ridge to form in the back of the skull. When somebody lands a rabbit punch, to the back of the skull, the first and most direct impact of the brain is into this ridge that can easily cut in to the brain. It is this ridge in the back of the skull that makes punches to the back of the head so dangerous......Rockin'

Actually, after turning pro I would hit the guy in the back of the head while he was holding me. I was ultra aggressive and guys would try to tie me up if I was close. It was either throw them to the canvas or hit them in the back of the head. If the ref warns me I'll just tell him that the *** is holding me, which is also illegal. Bronco didn't like the rabbit shots and neither did Tarrick. I would just say stop holding me. When your arms are tied up by a guy you can't generate much power but still I'm sure that they felt it once the adrenaline wore off. You don't want me hitting you in the back of the head? Fine, than quit holding me...….Rockin'

I get it, but it's walking a super dangerous line assuming you aren't a sociopath. I've sparred a lot, sometimes i thought about it afterward. Any of those punches, for any thousands of reasons, could have killed or seriously injured a person. My sparring partners are just me with a different backstory.

Do you really want your only excuse as you think about the man you killed or paralyzed to be "He shouda quit holding me."
