Louis was the most highly skilled hwt who ever lived. One punch KO power in either fist and the ability to thrown 5-6 punch pinpoint combinations.

Never been completely sold on Louis. I will grant he had good punching technique and certain other solid boxing virtues. That technique and those virtues worked really well on men who would stand still for him so they could be punched. It is hard to know how good Louis was on a H2H basis in the all time category, because he never fought a great heavyweight while he was in his prime. Louis was past his prime for Charles, Walcott and Marciano, pure and simple, and he faced no great heavyweights before that, with the two black un's hardly prime studs at their ages and number of fights apiece. Period. I do not call Schmeling anything near great. Same goes for Braddock, Sharkey and Baeouiywr. They are second tier historical champions all.

            I agree about the footwork.

            So you think Evander wins?
Dude faced the likes of Bowe, Tyson, Lewis etc
Louis had the bum of the month tour.

I think Louis would go life and death with Qawi..

I didn't say I think Holyfield wins, either. It means it is no great stretch that he can. Louis's best attribute is pinpoint combination punching. Holyfield has always been overrated as a boxer and ring general for some reason. Everyone hits Holyfield, except Foreman of whom he was definitely afraid of being hit full impact. It is a fair fight and a good matchup against Louis. Either man could carry the day. I do not have a strong pick.

While Louis is one of the better punchers the division has ever produced, his combination prowess far exceeds his one punch prowess. He did not have the single shot for starching men out cold, though he still had a fine single hit that started a man well on his way there, and his follow-up with killer instinct was instant and magnificent. Louis punches harder and he punches better, but Holyfield takes it a lot better than Joe did and is not exactly a slouch at dishing it out either. The true odds are close, I believe.

I can see Holyfield beating Louis both ways: outboxing him or going for the KO and succeeding. I personally believe Holyfield is the pound for pound best fighters ever head 2 head(mostly based on his rematch with Lennox lewis in terms of overcoming quality size).

In his prime he could do it all, move and outbox you from the outside. Counterpunch or be the aggressor. He could slugfest from start to finish. Great inside game as well and then you have his incredible attributes like heart, durability, stamina, speed and athleticsm etc. Could also exploit the rules to his advantage.

His weakness was his pride. i.e. choosing the wrong strategy against the wrong opponents. Any fight Evander ever lost in his prime, I could have seen him winning that fight with another strategy(and he did imo i.e. Bowe 2 & Lewis 2 & Moorer 2)

With Louis and his vulnerability and limitations, I can see Evander win this fight pretty much any way he wants.

--- the Field weakness was a congenital predisposition to a club fighter brawler addicted to vitamins needing to fight 10 years beyond his prime years as an unlicensed boxer in backwaters.

10-7-2 heavy title record ain't no p4per great. Sorry to be the party****** bearing bad tidings, but stats don't lie.

If he could really beat a prime Tyson, he'd have taken his vitamins earlier and skipped the kiddie cruisers, but he couldn't and needed to be coddled.

Amusing as always, bud. But I'm willing to bet good money that Tyson has always been on more 'vitamins' than Evander ever has, starting with Mike's second to third year with Cus. Also, Evander would have beaten him even in late 88.

--- Vitamins have been available since the post ww2 40s if you want to go there.

If what your saying is everyone on planet earth since is on vitamins, why ain't I?

I suspect even if an average fanboy on vitamins, you really don't know what you are talking about as I have proven over the many years.

I was offered them in the 80s, but why should I take them as a healthy male naturally producing my own male vitamins as nature intended?

But according to silly modern know it alls, that's impossible.

Yeah, right, and give me your bank account number an I give you a steal on lakefront property in Houston...only in boxing!
