Originally posted by SABBATHI loved this fight when it happened. Alexis Arguello the body punching technician. Watch the right uppercut to the solar plexus that does Ganigan in. That's why he wasn't even attempting to get up. Great ramrod left jab and accurate straight rights as well. A well schooled technical fighter. Kudos to Eddie Futch.
Cornelias Boza Edwards allegedly soiled his trunks so intense was Arguello's body attack in their 1980 fight.
I seem to remember Rueben Castillo also getting stopped by Arguello with body punches, just off the top of my head...hope my memory hasn't failed me.

A couple of big punching 122 pounders having a go at it, and not suprisingly, the fists were a flyin' and this one ended early. I guess it's another one that would fit into both the "left hook from hell" and "short, but sweet" categories...

From the very brink of defeat to one of the great comebacks in boxing history...
Archie Moore vs. Yvon Durelle I;

Many of you might already have this one or have seen it, but for those who don't/didn't...
Enjoy!
Oh and by the way, if any of you guys are into reading boxing bios I'd highly recommend Durelle's bio called 'The Fighting Fisherman'. Lots of boxing talk in there with some good descriptions of his fights & travels...The rough & gruff Durelle comes across as quite the character in the book (lots of swearing and such), as well, but he still has a mostly "everyday man" side to him which is easy to relate to.Last edited by Yogi; 06-07-2006, 04:29 AM.
