Duran wanted and needed another 6 months to prepare for that fight...but the deal was made without his consent. His manager took the deal because it was a lot of money and figured there would be a 3rd fight after if he lost and so more money.

Duran was living the life and did not train at all before the fight was made. It took everything out of him just to make weight...he was no way near the fighting shape he was in for the first fight. Had he had the extra 6 months he may have very well won again. He made Leonard looked better than he really was that night because he was in poor shape and unable to fight the way he usually did.

Yeah it did happen fast, but Leonard was also smarter in the second fight, staying on his bike, sticking and moving, not going toe to toe with Duran this time as well.

It's all true. Leonard even admits they devised a game plan knowing Duran would struggle to make weight and be sluggish on fight night. He even admits that during the fight he could feel Duran wasn't as sharp or as strong as he was in Montreal. It was cunning stuff from team Leonard.

Yep. Just like how Leonard retired again after fighting Kevin Howard, instead of fighting Hagler by 1985, he waited until after the Hagler-Mugabi fight to challenge Marvin. Cunning.

Been as prepared as he was in the first fight. It's that simple.

Doesn't automatically equal a win of course and no one could ever say that he'd always win, no matter what shape he was in, just as you couldn't say that Leonard would always win. They fought twice, and went 1 apiece...yes, I know, but I don't count that ridiculous farce.

Their first fight is the best indicator, as they were both in their best fighting shape possible and both fought as well as they ever did.

He just lacked the fire he had in the first fight because he'd already beaten Leonard and to get up and do it again, he needed that extra passion, which was lacking by that stage. He'd put the fire out by beating him the first time around and climbed his Everest, as such. He got embarrassed because he didn't have it and ******ly quit.
