Hahahahahaha!! Personally, at 18, I could solve all the worlds problems! I laugh now at how ****** I was. I had a solution for any problem. Problem was, nobody would listen to me, except my girl friend! I was a student at Cal, my girlfriend told me I was smart and amazing!!! I was walking on ****ing sunshine, and. It felt good! There was no topic I couldn't offer an opinion on.

The older I got, I realized I was a guy with lots of ideas, but no idea how to implement them. As I tried to implement a few and failed, I realized I needed real world experience. I am a senior technical project manager, my job is to make sure projects succeed. I care about and sweat the details! I gotta always think, "what am I missing? What could go wrong?"

We live, we learn & we grow! But, I like reading posts from younger guys! Reminds me of my past. But, some of these younger guys are real sharp, the majority, are as prideful and slow as I was/am!

I put this one alongside Ryan Rhodes' defeat to Otis Grant. Two instances where boxers from Ingle's Wincobank gym were beaten by superior fundamentals. Well grounded, practiced boxing technique over style.

I was a fan of both Rhodes and Named but I knew that they would come unstuck when they respectively stepped it up a level. I remember Named was on TFI Friday and claimed that he was better than Ali, "mark my words", I believe he said. I held him to that. It turned out to be a boast with little substance.

In the end it wasn't fundamentals of the craft that separated Naseem from men like Barrera. It was cajones, and an ability to have their pride work for them rather than against them. Hamed took a loss, tucked his tail between his legs, left the sport at the age of 28 and became a virtual recluse for the next decade.

Don't be fooled, yes it was somehow close early, but in every aspect Barrera was superior, he threw shots that put Naseem in defensive mode, Naseem tried to be the tough guy and Barrera just pounded him every time.

I'm getting around slowly to watching older classics. I gotta say (Jim), this fight was absolutely amazing!
Back & forth the first 6 rounds, I had it 10-10 in the 7th, then Barrera just took control from that point on. Didn't agree with the point deduction in the 12th, I scored it 116-113 for Barrera (practically same card as Lederman)

Clearly, both fighters are ATG's... I felt as if Naseem coulda done far better if he decided to ever throw a combo during the middle-late rounds.

Good fight to watch and an important one really! But I don't agree that Naseem is an ATG..
