Hey Scully once again thank you, you didn't have to give your time to this crap but you did!
Going through the stuff Ray sent me I found an article on Whimpy fighting T. Booze in the Civic Center to a draw! That was one hell of a fight!!! I had Whimpy in with M. Spinks for a week and then we helped Saad for 4 days and when we went up to Mac place he beat up Booze pretty badly.
That did not sit well with Tyrone who I cared for very much! However it lite a fire and a few months later Vito offered the match and Mac left it up to Booze hahaha well me & Mac kind of orchestrated the whole messy thing.....
nasty trainers...........HA! We knew they'd respect each other and we knew they'd fight hard, they did!
Whimpy came to me from O'Grady who fed his guys all bums, I think Halsrtead was 21-0 and he walked in my door. After 15 months he was 3-3 and learned what being competitive was all about! Back then he was ok, he learned a few tough lessons. Nelson/Anderson & Ring One were brother gyms Mac & I got along great! Everyone else hated us thats probably why.

you did well Young John Scully

Ray nite boys, beat up elroy he deserves it...............

If folks think that elroys agenda has anything to do with boxing their chewing to many mushrooms!!!! He is a stir the pot kid who has run his welcome dry 4 months ago.
I don't want to be associated with these types of young men, do you?

I understand this is the internet and has loose to no morals but I do and it's a shame that this is wear society has dropped to.
I need to listen to my son more often!

Just brush it off and disregard him mate. You've plenty to be proud of with your involvement in boxing and I and many others appreciate the things you have to contribute on here and put a lot of weight into your opinions. All the best, and it would be great if you just stopped acknowledging the idiot altogether. Maybe then he will disappear.

I repeat, someone who's in good with the mods needs to call for Elroys IP ban. He's been a nuisance far too long.

thanks so much for sharing these articles ray. I also appreciate you taking the time to answer the PMs we have had over the years. I was at a snowmobile mountain riding training camp a few years back and the was on the net answering a pm from you were mentioning you spent time fishing in bc years ago. I told the instructor what I was doing and mentioned your name and background and he grew up near your home state and had heard of you. Its great to see you put some people in there place. You make a positive contribution to this forum and I am sure you have done so to many of the young men lives you have touched through teaching this sport.

Back then allowed non competitive members because they help fund the kids who earned to go to the events. My biggest job became funding the gym, it was a never ending must! I took 10% off the top of the pros when they fought as a donation back to the non profit gym. Some didn't like but I told them they could go fight for old man Russo in Bridgeport hahaha......no one left!

I should say John that Ray said that Brian was happy that Chad went to you when he did. He thought you'd be able to reach him and get him going in the right direction. I heard about Chad as a little kid through Ray and he kept me aware of his growth as a J.O. into open class.

ok new gutters are here so I must "direct" the operations.......
You knew Alan Dawson?! He was an amazing jazz drummer who played with Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans and Dexter Gordon among many others and was probably the most sought after teacher to the pros until he quit his Berklee position in the late 80's from memory. He died mid 90's.

But he taught Tony Williams who revolutionised music in the 60's with Miles Davis and his methods are still greatly sought after. Amazing musician and I didn't know he used to box. That's awesome!

BennyST as soon as I wrote that I thought of the Dawson you mentioned, no sorry! The Alan Dawson I mentioned was from New Haven and at one time held the drum chair with "Freddy Parris & the Restless Hearts" also known as the "Five Satins" of the "In the Still of the Night" fame the huge doo woop hit in the 50's.
I am a drummer also and familiar with Mr. Alan Dawson whom you mentioned.
                A great musician and performer.

Thank you all for your comments, and to Scully thanks for rekindling some memories I'd forgotten about. Thinking of Mac having to by food for all the boys all week waiting on my son to loose hahahaha he did me the favor to handle Ray and it wasn't cheap!!!! HA!

and pardon me for prying, but i hope everything worked out with whatever happened to the dude who got the skin graft. hope that wasn't you or somebody close, but obviously if it's in your photo album it was probably you or a friend / family member. holy crap was that a gnarly wound. best of luck in the recovery.
