Barrera wouldn't last 4rds with a prime Naz!
This is correct, and obviously correct!

And the prime Prince would have been a lb for lb marvel in the subsequent eras as well no doubt.

Barrera-hamed was a perfect example of why trainers school their fighters in the fundamentals.. If all things equal, solid fundamental skills are the deciding factor.. Barrera's jab nullified hamed and made him a sitting duck for barrera's combinations..

How many times have we seen a fighter win because he had better jab, or straighter punches, kept his hands up, tucked his chin.. Simple boxing 101, but there is a reason they teach it.. It's the most effective way

Someone said Naz was chinny. I dont agree with that. He was actually lucky he had a good chin.
Naz has the perfect style for a sharp shooter/counter puncher. As soon as he faced an elite one he was getting hit flush with hard shots and because he had such a freaky style he was made to look clumsy as ****. Flopping about all over the ring and ****. Because he had such freaky athletic gifts he could throw punches at odd angles and avoid shots at odd angles vs lesser opposition. His athletic gifts made him have no real need to learn the basic fundamentals of boxing. His natural talent was the making of him but also limited him. If he had fought someone like Marquez he would have been seriously damaged. His defence was just pure reflexes. He had no technicality to his defence what so ever. Roy Jones was the same. As soon as he lost a % of his natural speed and reflexes he had no technicality to fall back on unlike Bernard Hopkins

This is the same old dreary story regurgitated by so many posters to explain away the few losses of the very best boxers, just like Roy Jones for example.

These guys are the absolute pinnacle of the sport when it comes to skills. "Fundamentals" in their case signifies a LACK of talent!

Do you seriously think these guys like Roy Jones, Prince and David Haye came up through their formative years never properly learning how to box?? Unbelievable!

They probably did learn the fundamentals at first but they never really needed to use them so didn't master them. I'm talking in terms of defence.

Don't get me started on David Gaye

95% of all the ATG's were absolute bums in absolute terms, so as if Prince would be denied the same attention!

I mean the whole concept of being an ATG is totally undermined in just 2 words...

Trying to troll a fight little boy? come now junior, its probably a combo of both. Most trainers, including Stewart (see post with article) felt Naseem needed work. It also appears a major factor was Naseem being in **** condition for the fight. There is proof for both viewpoints and they kind of compliment each other. So instead of being a child and trying to get a troll roll going lets reason like an adult shall we?

Your really that dumb? Knowing the fundamentals changes...one has to know every aspect of them as a pro. The reason being, one cannot make mistakes. You really need to study a combative...every time you get tapped, or hit in the mouth think of me btw! You will see quickly that when getting the fundamentals down in the gym, your ability to apply them under duress in a match changes, and then the degree of subtlery changes. This varies considerably when fighting a good counter puncher who is a regional favorite versus a guy like Marquez and someone has to explain this to you lol?

BtW one problem with boxing today is precisely that the fundamentals are not being taught and grounded as much as they should be. Learning takes place on levels. Yes guys like haye learn the fundamentals but are not grounded in the fundamentals, coming into fights with limited skill sets, just able to do certain things and the proof is in the pudding.

Your really none to bright you know that right?

A ha! the concept of mastery. Elroid can hardly focus on chewing gum and walking....when he has to pay the cable bill for mom he counts steps in between chews as he walks up to the counter, so this may go over his head. This is a guy who thinks he hits the bag like Foreman and "does not need people to even hold the bag for him!"

BTW Haye is a great example for many reasons: His whole approach is based on staying away and getting off a strong punch. He has a great punch and the division is weak so he has been able. How one can see tapes and point out how flawed Haye is as a fighter, yet Elroid cannot be bothered with such things as facts.
