One of the most naturally gifted athletes to ever grace the ring. Watch his videos fighting as a kid and you can see he was a natural born talent. A hall of famer for sure, but not an ATG IMHO because after the Barrera fight he lost his heart and more than anything what makes an ATG is their ability to face adversity and come back, but still one of my favourite fighters.

Prince Naseem was obviously one of the most talented and awesome forces in boxing of all time.

Even despite the fact he proved a bit chinny and lacking in the desire or heart to fight through set backs, he is still a shoe in for an ATG on the grounds of how good he was when he was on his massive winning streak.

95% of all the ATG's were absolute bums in absolute terms, so as if Prince would be denied the same attention!

I mean the whole concept of being an ATG is totally undermined in just 2 words...

      "Joe" and "Frazier"..

I have to say: when I look at Naseem I often reflect that Mayweather got off fighting one real serious pressure fighter in Castillo, did not do so well the first go (I seem to remember thinking he lost that fight) and never really fought a guy like Barrera...a true blue pressure guy who can box, near prime capacity...One wonders if he would have been given the Naseem treatment. Naseem seemed to be, at the time of his greatness to be on the level of a Floyd, Camacho, etc...and then he wasn't!!
The thing is that Barrera wasn't a pressure fighter against Hamed. He simply outthought and outboxed him. Rather easily too.

What most don't know, is Naz weighed 190lbs and was incapacitated with damaged hands. HBO contacted him and offered "zillions" if he would fight Barrera in 4 months. Naz agreed and spent those 4 months in the sauna. The rest is history.

Barrera wouldn't last 4rds with a prime Naz!

The hands down style always gets fighters in trouble.. Prince, jermain taylor, etc.. Fighters that drop their hands usually end up paying for it somewhere down the line, no matter how talented... Roy jones is about the only dude I know that had a long career with their hands down..

Barrera-hamed was a perfect example of why trainers school their fighters in the fundamentals.. If all things equal, solid fundamental skills are the deciding factor.. Barrera's jab nullified hamed and made him a sitting duck for barrera's combinations..

How many times have we seen a fighter win because he had better jab, or straighter punches, kept his hands up, tucked his chin.. Simple boxing 101, but there is a reason they teach it.. It's the most effective way

              I highly doubt that..

And prince is actually lucky he didn't hang around, I cant imagine how badly a prime marquez, morales, or manny would have thrashed him

I can actually believe that as being possible.

This seems to point in that direction.

This also makes sense... Or was Nasim lacking when he fought Barrera? I wonder what proof there is of regarding this situation?

When I watched that fight I was caught up in underdog fever and don't remember HOW barrera beat him so convincingly, so I would assume your right if you recall that Barrera beat him in such a way.
