I came across this doco and was just blown away by this small passage of it. It features a very young Shannon Briggs at the very start of his career, 3-0. He meets Ali and talks about his future and not ending up like Ali, how he won't get screwed, that things in the future will be different for the fighters because they will be earning more etc etc.
Check it out. Don't know why it hit home so well. Maybe because we're watching Shannon parade himself around at 43 years old, desperate to get another shot, embarrassing himself at times frankly, and yet here he is at 20, start of his career, full of promise and enthusiasm, completely positive that a similar thing won't happen to him and that he'll end up rich and not fighting on well past his use by date.
