Bum of the Month Club

You need too work on your reading comprehension and take past posts into context, most of what the boxing writers were calling 'Bum of the Month' (Called that because he was walking through them and fighting once a month during the period) were not bums, as I said in my last post, Billy Conn, John Henry Lewis, Lou Nova and others in the 'Bum of the Month Club' were not bums but were still a part of what the writers were calling that, I'm just repeating myself here again.Comment

Trying to find the link. I probably should have said that it was Louis' management that steered him away from a few fighters. Some blamed it simply on racism. I know nothing about this fighter but I recall a fighter named Bivens was clamoring for a fight. I know that I have seen this discussion on other forums.
By the way I never referred to any fighter as a "bum". Just quoting of the media of that day. ThanksComment

It did start out as the "Joe Louis fight a month club" but "bum of the month club" also come into use, and the catchier of the two, it's the one that stuck.Comment

Louis' Bum of the Month club was a joke and a disgrace to the world title but it happened at a time when he still managed to fight top ranked contenders and the war time years. Not an excuse but something which is understandable.
There was nothing stopping Floyd from fighting Pacquiao, Cotto at 17, Margarito (8 mill) or Khan now. Nothing what so ever.Comment
