From what I remember neither party ever seemed that interested in getting that fight done. Same with HBO.

Actually hbo did a fan poll for Roy's next opponent and daruisz was the lopsided winner.. I believe results were shown at tito-vargas, or the mw tournament the following year.. Daruisz got like 75% of the fan votes, and Internet forum rumor has it that roy asked hbo never to talk about him again.. This was circa 2000-01

TS, Much better if you compile them in the opening page. You can add Pacquiao vs Barrera I now.

So what about him not fighting other better opponents? He seemed to fight mostly easier opponents after Toney.

The only worthy fighter who I ever remember Roy ducking was Michael Nunn.

Frankie liles... Amateur nemesis and long time 168 champ.. 94-97 that was a good fight to make.

Not as flagrant as Nunn, but a valid point. Liles being with Don King probably killed his chances of getting the fight.

So Jones actually has a good resume at light heavy? I mean, he's a great fighter, but it didn't seem like there were a lot of highly touted big names there in the '90s to early 2000s.

All his big fights were at 160 or 168... 175 was putrid in the 90s

160-68 had g-man, benn, Eubanks, Liles, nunn, collins

175 had 42 year old jr middleweight mccallum, faded virgil hill a year or so after he got beat by daruisz and the big unification with lou de Valle and another ancient jr middlewieght Reggie

Ah okay. Should've unified the title then.
