Why Sick Boxers NEVER Punch Hard.

I do not need to go away and study boxing tapes, junior, since I have seen every fight and fighter listed multiple times, and even addressed them in my post. You need to go away and learn to read a post accurately instead of reacting to it with your vital juices before you have time to do so.

So let me assist you by the elbow once again. Roy Jones was not a slick boxer and Ali was not a devastating puncher. Without his superhauman footspeed Jones does not have a clue how to defened himself. A su****ious KO of Liston and the anomaly of Bonavena hardly make the case for Ali as a devastating puncher, now do they? Despite Maurice Hope, no one goes around making the case that Benitez was a devastating puncher who went undiscovered as such for his entire career. Same with Whitaker. The reason is simple: because they were not.

There is no boxing tapes left for me to study..i have watched over 22,000+ fight tapes.

To claim Roy Jones was not a slick boxer is laughable..Jones was "The slickest of the slick"..and him not knowing how to defend himself is mind-boggling..no fighter could put a glove on him until he was past the age of 35yrs old.

Oscar Bonavena was only ever stopped once in his career of nearly 70 fights and that was by Muhammad Ali. Oscar fought power-punchers like Joe Frazier (twice) Ron Lyle & Floyd Patterson who could not put a dent in him. Ali was also the only man to KO George Foreman.

They can't all be good. Everytime I have to thrash Sonny on another thread he publishes more of his horse sense, such as the hugely exciting list of fights he came up with. Then there is his keen insight that Jimmy Young was a power puncher because he knocked Foreman down in the twelfth round when George was so tired he could barely stand anyway.

Only another madman tries to defend against the ubiquitous, wholesale ****** assertions of a madman, but a few highlights are always good for a guffaw.

You couldn't thrash me on nothing.. Your making things up as you go along. i have never said Jimmy Young was a power-puncher, i had Foreman winning almost every round against Young.. So put up or shut up and put a link up were i claim him to be a power puncher.

Slick is James Toney and MW, sweetpea Whitaker. They can stay out of the way of punches even when they age and slow down. Sorry, pal, Roy Jones cannot do that at all. He is helpless without his super human reflexes, as every scrub proves nowadays.

Like Ali, he was an original who could do everything wrong and get away with it. Unlike Ali, he did not have the chin to carry on successfully after his reflexes became those of normal men. His so-called superior defense consisted almost entirely of staying half a ring away out of range. In close, his speed saved him, not traditional technical skills, because he happens to have very few of those. He cannot fight inside at all.

I don't want to make him out to be a boxing idiot, because he grew up in a ring and knows more about boxing than this forum put together. However, it is evident that he did not need or care to practice traditional techniques. Knowing about something does not make you an expert at it unless you practice those techniques. Once his reflexes were normal, he could no way have survived Sam Peter the way Toney did. Think about it: could the RJJ who was unable to survive a scrub like Lebedev have survived the raging Peter? No way. He would be out cold in a few rounds, just as he was against the red.

He had excellent an excellent offensive inside game, but yeah, he got pretty lax on the defense and wasn't ever very good at parrying and slipping inside. He basically only blocked punches with a high guard. Very good short punches though and was able to get good angles and leverage inside.
