Yes, Tyson's style of defense was worlds apart from Peps, Pernell's or Floyds. Tyson's style takes real guts!

wladimir's style is based on being huge, having titanic power, a jab that can hit you from another state [country in europe.]

he holds to protect a garbage chin. that's the most important aspect of his style at the height of his powers.

Loche and Pep are worthy B. Leonard was good as was Pete.
Benitez was a top D-man along with Moore in his prime.
Can't put Wlad on the list he's never fought anyone near being great.
Plus his defense is just height and holding he doesn't have any defensive techniques at all. (he does move just like Pep though) hahahaha. yeah right!

Jack Johnson in his day used the back foot and leaned back and to the side very successfully. Corbett used movement to avoid incoming bombs.
Mayweather to me doesn't use defensive to be able to apply offense the way others do. Its become a means to neutralize his opponents offense but Floyd doesn't counter in combos off the D.
It has to do with his refussal to exchange and dominate. He could do it the skills are their but the mind set isn't.

I like to watch Pep, he is a Master Boxer with perpetual movement that estabishes his offense & defense. The true "Will of the Wisp" dancin' machine

Yes that is being realistic...you wont find that much around here...believe me! the site is majority run by an azz backwards logic, meaning the more people seem to know the less they know, the less credibility you have the more you know...in other words throw the rep points out the window it really doesn't reflect reality on here though I gave you some ....

He doesn't have to move like pep ,its not about the footwork its about the execution.Any realistic boxing knowledgable who watches footage of Pep would be able to spot what ive said.

Wlad's holding is not defensive at all, its 90% Offensive. He uses it to lean on guys and drain his opponents energy with 240+ lbs of mass.

                    2. Willie Pep
                    3. Prime Whitaker
                    4. Corbett
                    5. Hopkins
                    6. Vitali
                    7. Gene Tunney
                    8. Sugar Leonard
                    9. James Toney
