During that time period both perto rico and Panama had an intense rivalry as both small nations produced many world class fighters. These nations also
Believed in witchcraft and dejeus employed a witch to put a spell on duran before there second fight. Duran supposedly cut the heads off some chickens to relieve the curse and went on to win by ko after getting dropped in the second round. Duran also brought a Cuban witch to Madison Square Garden to put a spell on Davey Moore or to bring him luck.
Well upon seeing the Puerto Ricans, the leak was caused by a plumbing joint in the wall coming unsodered, no big deal...
This story which is true! illustrates why Benitez and Duran were at odds, rivalry? you bet! By the way ALL the families described were good people who insisted on tipping me, asked about my family, which ALSO says something about these people! haha

Speed and skills can be quite the intimidating factor as well. I think early Roy Jones intimidated many fighters, especially after witnessing his speed.
From personal experience, speed is the only thing that would kinda throw me off.
Hagler, Tyson just had that look. Benitez had that stare down of death, Hearns as well
