Yeah he buckled for a second, but most guys would have been dropped if not totally iced.. He walked into,, literally walked into tommy hearns hardest punches and buckled abit but basically was unfazed though I believe that was the exchange that cut him...

I always said that even though marvin won, it took a lot out of him I and I dont think he was ever the same.. Never was sharp again vs Mugabi and leonard

........"Marvin also never fought many big punchers, he always looked to fight smaller weight fighters at championship level".. .....BS!

Hagler fought the BEST competition on his way up and as Champion, he fought EVERYBODY who was ANYBODY!
Hagler is a top five Middleweight ATG.
      Ray.

I could see Roy Jones surprising him with a left hook. Roy is known for stopping out guys who were impossible to stop.

Who did RJJ stop that was on Hagler's level.

I think RJJ gets too much credit sometimes.

              Probably not in middleweight history.

                Euclid had five axioms.

If boxing were mathematics, Hagler's chin would be an immutable axiom.

It was a chin that was tested, in fact, by no fewer than three monster punchers who all landed their best shots to no avail. Roldan, Hearns and Mugabi closed the case on Marvin's chin long ago. The only knockdown ever scored against him was actually a slip, as he claimed.

If it weren't for Robinson and LaMotta, Hag would be an easy choice for chin king of the middleweights. I think he was hit harder than Robby ever was, so I might give him a slight chin edge over Ray. But Jake was really pounded by Robinson and survived on his feet.

To me Chuvalo, LaMotta and Hagler are the axioms of chin. You might add a couple of more, but there is no one to unseat these three yet.

What about Chavez? I believe he was knocked down once in his career, unless he went down more when he was past prime?

also... Hagler's chin was DEFINITELY battle tested.

Check out the Mugabi fight for proof...
