Well, apparently Oliver McCall said that Cooper hit him harder than anyone else has, and he faced Lewis, Bruno, Tyson all the time in sparring etc.

Legitimate hard puncher but limited. His fight with Michael Moorer is still one of my favorite heavyweight fights.

He hurt a smaller Holyfield and sparred McCall but sparring and fighting are two different things.Tyson also made McCall quit with a body shot ,everybody seems to forget that.hitting hard he probably was on a high level but hitting hard is basically a given in the HW division, its the speed/technique and accuracy that makes the better puncher.he was a poor version of Tyson,he basically looked like Tyson when tyson was at his worst. He hit hard, how hard is anyones guess he didn't really k.o anyone good, holyfield took a good punch even at 210 or so so you see he has power.!

Guy hit plenty hard to be known as a big puncher in the heavy division.. Outside of tyson and Bruno maybe the hardeest single punch in that era

Was a true Cruiser not much of a heavyweight. He had pop but once he went in against 200+ his power didn't make the transition. My friend Ty Booze fought him to a split lost that we thought Ty won. After the Forman fight he started to slid into the "opponent" catagory and fought far beyond his best time.
I think at the end he had been stopped a dozen times, far to much.

How come the cruiser level of power applies to cooper but it doesn't apply to a guy like Louis who only weighed 195/200 in his prime as well and knocked out guys like clown Primo with 5 oz gloves on,the Louis you so ademently call the hardest puncher of all time?Just curious..!Because really I don't think Louis is nearly as powerful as the top Hw's in that 90's era or current super heavy weights, and that's just logical.Louis fighting mostly guys under 200 pounds contradicts everything you say here, and Cooper was much bigger and compact than Louis,so how do you explain ...are you saying Louis hits harder than cooper ,and if so ,what evidence with actual credible Heavyweights with size that can actually fight?

Oliver McCall said the hardest he was ever hit was by Bert Cooper in sparring. Mind you, this guy fought Lewis & Bruno, sparred Tyson for years etc.

So I would say he hit pretty hard. He also dropped both Holyfield and Moorer. He could crack man, and he had good skills.
