Floyd was simply too big for Marquez.Mayweather cheating Marquez on the scales was also a dirty trick.

Other than the size factor (which really turned this fight into a farce), Marquez has never really liked setting up his own offense.

He wants to bait his opponents in and take advantage, against Mayweather this was never going to be an option because Floyd is too cautious

Really FM is just a better fighter in general, with a size advantage to boot

He tried out-jazzing Charlie Parker. He should of brought the bass instead.

Both like to counter-punch, but Mayweather is bigger and quicker so ... We can't say that Marquez is really confortable at this wegiht.
Had they fought (mythically) at 130 or 135, this woulod have been far more interesting and competitive I think.

Most people will say the size as if Mayweather is some big black beast when in reality there wasn't much difference in weight. Sure, Marquez was moving up in weight but when a fight is that one-sided it can't just be the size because....

For a start were not talking about a fight were Mayweather was leaning all over Marquez and wearing him down or a fight where Marquez was landing multiple shots which bounced of Mayweather.

Marquez lost by that margin because he is stylistically made to order for Mayweather and to his credit he doesn't make excuses about the weight very often. He said himself that 'everybody saw what happened in 2009' after beating Pacquiao, he has never demanded a rematch.

How much better would a 2012 Marquez do?

Whether they fought at 130, 135 or whatever Marquez would still face similar issues.... fighting a guy who is significantly faster than him and has a far longer reach.

In their actual fight Mayweather was killing him with the jab to the body.
