  • Who'd win in a battle of the jabs: Lennox Lewis or Wladimir Klitschko?

I sometimes fantasize about this fantasy match, and I think that whoever wins the battle of the jabs would have a very big chance of winning.

Who would win the battle IYO? I think Lewis would because of his 84 inch reach.

Wladimir obviously but in fantasy land Lewis.

Put it this way it wouldn't be the guy who not only got outjabbed by Bruno but outjabbed by Ray Mercer

In fantasy land Wlad has a ramrod left jab, in reality he sticks it out and paws it in front of his opponents face.

Lewis obviously had a better and harder jab.

I disagree. I think wlads is more effective and more powerful. they both tended to paw with it at times. lennox was better in most other aspects but I think wlad clearly has the better more powerful left

I think some are forgetting the mental aspect. Lewis would outjab him simply because he reacts better to getting hit. Can you even imagine the shock Wladimir would go through if he got jabbed by a 6'5/245lb ATG? He has never been jabbed in the face that hard and often. Vitali also faced the same culture shock, but he was durable and mentally strong enough to try to adapt. I think this would take some of the effectiveness of Wlad's jab away which would open him enough for Lennox to take control.

Effectiveness is debatable. For Wlad's arsenal, that pretty much consists of a jab-right hand these days, of course the Jab is important. But he uses it more as a form of defence than attack i.e. he will stick out the jab in order not to get hit, without even setting up a hook or a right hand after the jab.

Lewis had an agressive jab, admittedly, when he wanted to. It was powerful and had bad intensions behind it. Wlad jabs and takes a step back.

yea,,,I get what your saying. im judging more the younger wlad that would snap it out and bust you up with it. I remember being in awe of his jab in the shulz and mercer fights. dunno why he got away from that. I still think its a more punishing jab than lewis's when he snaps it out with intent which isnt nearly as often as he used to do

I never saw Lewis disguise his jab quite like Wlad does, the hook jab is one of Wlads most dangerous shots, he put down Povetkin with it for a career first knockdown.

I remember him dropping mercer in the fiirst round with a quick left hook off the jab much like the povetkin shot. wish hed throw that more often like he used to

I'd say it's even as far as the jabs go. Lewis' hands are quicker, but Wlad has the heavier jab (just no speed or snap to the punch). Overall, I think whoever landed a hard combo first would win, as each does not possess a great chin.
