I really enjoyed Chandler's fights. I liked Pintor as well.

When Chandler lost to Sandoval, I was hoping he would jump to 122. There were a lot of interesting matchups to be made. But surprisingly he just retired.

Jeff was a great fighter, but I understand he had some drug problems prior to fighting Sandoval.I think he could've beaten Pintor, and move to 122 would've done him some good.It was great that he got to stop high school schoolmate Johnny Carter during his reign.

Chandler was a very good fighter and IMO would have beaten Pintor. But lurking at 122 was Wilfredo Gomez. I don't think anyone thinks now (or thought then) he could have beaten Gomez.

One huge advantage Chandler had was that all of his title fights were on network television.

Indeed, and he earned some good payments through that.TBH, I don't know if he could've beaten Gomez, but, I think, at that time, Gomez was looking at the featherweights, so Jeff probably could've pulled a belt there.Would've been an interesting scenario if he did decide to go to featheweight at some point.

Chandler was lanky and the kind of fighter who would normally steadily move up in weight. I presume that he was making 118 comfortably and didn't want to give up his title.

It's probable, though if he was fighting Cortez, he was at least considering the move up to 122. Jeff was definitely a special fighter.

He had some major issues before the Sandoval fight, and if you'd checked out his career chronologically it was incredibly obvious something was wrong with him. He went from brilliant to looking tragically shot. That classic case of losing his coordination, taking shots weirdly ie being effected, and his balance wasn't good etc etc. Wasn't that Sandoval was amazing.

He was one of my favourites for a long time, but that is honestly one of the fastest downfalls I've ever seen in any fighter. With some you can see it coming, even if they can still get up and fight brilliantly, but with Jeff it hit brutally out of nowhere all at once in that fight. Awful to watch.

I was young at the time, but I wasn't expecting Jeff to go out like THAT!!! Sandoval was a very good fighter, but at his best, Chandler beats him.
