Nobody said Tyson's bites were right either so this post is kind of pointless. And every time Holyfield's dirty moves are brought up people want to talk about what Tyson did. It's deflection is what it is.
This can be said about every fighter that was ever accused of being dirty. "I'm sure it wasn't intentional". That's not going to hold up in a near 3-decade career where this was consistently an issue.
People bring up Tyson when discussing holyfield because it was one of the most shocking moments in modern boxing and it was Tyson that tried to justify his actions by accusing Holyfield of dirty tactics.
In those fights with Tyson i have yet to be told which round and which second that we see Holyfield head butting Mike.
fighters were much dirtier back in the day, did stuff nobody could have got away with in holyfields era. in his time evander was as dirty a fighter as anyone though.
1Assassin said more in a couple of sentences then most posters say in 4 sentences..in the era he fought Holyfield was as dirty as Greb was in the era
of his time..Half of a foul being dirty is whether it was intentional..To say Holyfields headbutts were only the result of his style. No butts intended..
Well Evanders animal totem surely is the RAM
I agree with Foreman Evander could compete in any era he do what it takes to win..ITS ALWAYS THE LOSERS WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE RULES BEING BROKEN
Even though I believe that Holyfield could get pretty dirty when he wanted to (and when the referees would allow him to do so) I do not know if I would give him the credentials of ‘dirtiest fighter ever’. He certainly did not mind getting his hands dirty (no pun intended)
I don't think Evander's in ring antics would mark him out for any special notoriety.
Malignaggi's commented on how he was bitten on the shoulder in the amateurs. I don't think it's that uncommon and there's a long way between that and the notoriety of biting off a chunk of ear. His head-butting wasn't of a frequency where you'd say it far exceeded the norm.
I'm not saying that he's a clean fighter 'cause he clearly wasn't. His PED use is off more concern to me but that depends on how you see it. Was he levelling the playing field against naturally bigger men or was he gaining an unfair advantage? I'd go with the latter.
Fighters with loaded gloves surely rank higher on the dirty scale?
