Have been different if fought at 154

Hell the result would of been different if the ref did not wave the fight off too soon in my opinion.

That fight destroyed me as a kid. (ok I feel better now, lol)

154 would not have made as much difference as if the fight was scheduled for 12 rounds.

And it was a good stoppage.

I respect your opinion but to me a unification fight of that magnitud the ref for sure stopped it to soon, the hitman looked a little dazed but far from out on his feet

my persona; thoughts are that tommy was outgrowing the welter limit and would have been both a better pitcher and catcher thus he would have beaten ray

At that time Tommy made weight easily and at times was at 145-46 even.
He had very thin thighs and high skinny calfs that didn't match his upper body. I always thought that his height while a positive attribute was also a negative when his legs went south when he got rocked. When Tommy was hurt he rarely recovered and I attribute a lot of the problem to his long thin legs.

Tommy was out boxing Ray and winning the fight when he got caught and was hurt badly at the stoppage, he was done.

            Ray.

Ray Leonard won that fight. You can't possible think that Hearns was going to survive that onslaught and even come back to win?

Actully I do, too many fighters have come back from far worse, no?

I was rooting (and betting) on Tommy with all my heart that night, but (imo) Hearns was finished.

But Hearns himself never did. Like Ray Corso said, Hearns almost never truly recovered after getting hurt, and he had taken quite a bit of punishment in a grueling fight leading up to that stoppage.
