Haye is *****. Nothing other than a good right hand and some athleticism. In order to show good defense against Wald, he sacrificed his offense. Chinny and suspect stamina.

He barely got by Valuev. A 80 year old Holyfield did better than Haye.

Yep! And I think Ali couldn't win a rematch with him, and Ali probably knew it too.

I think Jack Johnson could have done it. I believe he would have gotten so far into George's head that he'd be able to do something similar to what Ali did, minus the rope-a-dope.

Good one. Johnson was also from the grappling based era of boxing and along with his frame and strength, he would not get pushed around and bullied by Foreman. Very interesting matchup.

Actually I could see Johnson winning. On top of the mental aspect you mentioned his grappling advantage would cause Foreman to get smothered in every exchange, and he would not last the distance against Johnson who's stamina was legendary.

100% agree. I could see him in those clinches yelling "is that all you got, Georgie?"

Gotta love that old school sort of classy trash talk. Like even when Jack was called the n word and other horrible things during the fight he would just say "You hit like a woman, Tommy" and smile. Johnson is the original troll of boxing

At what point from 74-76 was Ali supposed to have been scared of Foreman? Was it the slob that turned up to fight 5 bums in one night and got his arse booed out the arena? Or the guy who took even longer to dispatch a faded and badly beaten frazier ?

This myth that Ali didn't want the rematch is ridiculous. Foreman had 1 fight of note across 2 years whereas Ali was fighting 3-4 times a year post Zaire.

Ali would've laughed all the way to the bank for a rematch against a a fat, jaded, mentally deteriorated foreman of the mid 70s.

Both Johnson and Dempsey have a good chance. the 6' Johnson for reasons already mentioned, and the 6'2" Dempsey because his shorter and quicker punches would often beat Big George to the punch. I easily see George going down a few times in the early rounds. Both men will probably go down multiple times. I don't know if Dempsey puts him out. I don't know if Dempsey wins, whereas I believe Johnson does win.

Holmes I don't know about. He had this I am killa mentality which got him bombed sometimes. Too much ego to be a perfect ring general. He had to show 'em, show the world how tough and what a rumbler he was. As with Dempsey, I believe he will have a nip and tuck fight with George which could go either way. Larry's only chance to KO Foreman is to tire him out like Ali did and land repeatedly until Foreman is too tired to get up or the referee stops it. Larry has average power only.
